Star Trek Fan Art - To Touch the Creator

A piece  I made in August based on the dramatic (and slightly confusing) climactic ending of 1979's Star Trek the Motion Picture. It depicts the reconstructed mechanical form of lieutenant Ilia, was played by stunningly beautiful and late actress Persis Khambatta. She is joined by Stephen Collins who played the character of commander Willard Decker. I made two color versions, one with the Enterprise in a light white-gray and the other in Gold as an homage to an early publicity shot of the ship in metallic yellow.

My first image in a series that pays homage to the Star Trek universe but in the cartoon realm of my not-too-serious imaginings. "The Sensor" is an interpretation of one of the more memorable scenes from 1979's Star Trek The Motion Picture in which Mr. Spock encounters a gigantic copy of the Deltan Ilia that overwhelms him as he attempts a mind meld with it. While most Star Trek fans count Wrath of Khan as their favorite from the original movies, I have a nostalgic place in my heart for this first movie. The effects are fantastic and there's enough camp and overacting in some scenes to keep you awake even through the long, slow V'ger sequences.

Blade Runner Blues, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?

My tribute to one of my favorite films "of all time". Some friends of mine were opening a club night with a minimalist/cold-wave music theme and they asked me if I wanted to bring any art with me. Being the only person exhibiting, of course I was honored and it motivated me to make this painting I had been imagining for months! Being a Blade Runner FANATIC I cranked it out in 3 hours. It's 4 foot by 2. Wouldn't a cartoon of this movie and novel be great?

Baby Spock!

I'm reposting this from my art blog. It's called "A Vulcan Child". In the third film, The Search for Spock, the crew of the U.S.S. Grissom are surprised to find the recently departed Captain Spock fully revived and regenerated by the powerful life-giving forces of Project Genesis. Even more surprising is that his newly formed body is that of a young boy. While we never actually saw him 'sitting' on the photon torpedo he was entombed in, I figured it would make a really cute image. Finally out of the wormhole!

It's been nearly a year since I posted anything on this blog! This is mainly because apart from more mundane concerns, I've been dedicating a lot of my time to "fine" art such as painting and such. The truth is I've been so busy with stuff I have a hard time devoting myself to posting regularly on any of my blogs. 

So I wanted to return with an illustration made by me to decorate this small, humble corner of cyberspace. It's actually a composite of a few of my fan-art illustrations inspired by Star Trek. Jut today I made three variations on this image and I'll change them periodically as I hopefully (fingers crossed for good luck) get around to posting my of my creations.
